General terms and conditions

Bill of expenses
The number of registered guests 24 hours prior to the beginning of the event serves as the basis of your account with us.
Following your event, we will make out an invoice (in CHF) for the total amount and would appreciate your payment within 20 days. The hotel reserves the right to request an advance payment of 50%. Failure to cancel a room will result in a service charge of CHF 120.— per room debited to your account, in the event that the room cannot be to given to other guests.

Arrival and departure
Rooms are available as of 3 pm on the day of arrival. Rooms reserved for seminars are available until 10 am on the day of departure, for individual guests until 12 noon.
For non-arrivals by 6 pm, Seehotel Sternen reserves the express right to give the room to other guests, provided no guarantee or late arrival has been agreed upon.

Cancellations
A down payment is requested for weddings. This will be retained as forfeiture should the event be cancelled at short notice and the venue cannot be rented by further guests.
Should Seehotel Sternen have grounds to assume that the event could hinder the seamless operation of business or jeopardize the safety or reputation of the hotel, Seehotel Sternen has the right to terminate the reservation agreement at any time.

Third-party services
We would be happy to assist you in organizing any technical equipment or other furnishings provided by third parties: e.g. decorations, etc. As the purchaser of such an order, you are responsible for all costs, as well as liability for damage or loss.

Liability
Seehotel Sternen assumes no liability for theft or damage to any items, objects or clothing guests have brought with them. The customer is, however, held liable towards Seehotel Sternen for any damage and loss which is caused by him or his staff members or participants, without Seehotel Sternen having to prove evidence of the accusation to the customer.

General information
In the event that additional rooms are necessary, the general management must be informed prior to the beginning of the event. A surcharge will be debited to your account for last-minute changes: for example, in seating arrangement, menus, etc. Police regulations prohibit fireworks and musical performances outdoors after 10 pm.
Seehotel Sternen assumes no liability for the cloakroom.

Court of jurisdiction
In the event of disputes between customer and Seehotel Sternen, settlements are governed by Swiss law with Horw as the exclusive court of jurisdiction.

Facilities
All hotel facilities which have been provided, including any utensils, are to be handled with care. On principle, the hanging of decorations or other items must be discussed with the general management in advance. Any damaged or missing items will be charged to the person responsible for organizing the event.

Optional dates
Optional dates are binding for both parties. The hotel retains the right to use all rooms after the expiration of the option period, provided no written confirmation has been signed by both parties.

Flat-rate prices
The flat-rate price will be automatically charged for coffee breaks and/or for lunches and dinners not consumed in the hotel, also when decided at short notice.

Reservations
Concluded reservations for hotel rooms, as well as function rooms for seminars and banquets, are binding. Any venue released by the customer will be rented to others. In principle, provisional reservations are possible. However, a definite decision but must be made in the event of demand for the venue.

Use of function rooms
The time period agreed upon and confirmed by both parties serves as the basis for use of the room(s). Extensions must be discussed with the general management. There is a surcharge of CHF 4.50 per person for events lasting longer than 12.30 am, charged for every additional hour, including an incomplete hour. Should the time period for the use of a venue be shorter than expected, no refunds are granted.

Food and beverages
Food and beverages are to be obtained from Seehotel Sternen. In exceptional cases, a charge of CHF 30.-- per 75 cl bottle will be debited to your account.
Exceptional cases require a written agreement with the general management. Beverages are charged according to amounts consumed. Food which has been ordered but not consumed will also be charged for cases involving 3 or more guests. Any changes or cancellations will be charged if made less than 24 hours in advance. The hotel must be notified in writing.

Number of participants
The customer is obligated to inform Seehotel Sternen of the definitive and binding number of seminar participants and banquet guests as early as possible, at the latest 48 hours prior to the beginning of the event. Seehotel Sternen reserves the right to charge the total amount of costs for events which involve fewer participants than stated in the original reservation.

Insurance
Seehotel Sternen assumes no responsibility or liability for theft of and damage to personal belongings or clothing, nor for damage to vehicles parked on the hotel premises. Furthermore, no liability is assumed for any sort of damage to parking spaces or parking tickets due to illegal parking along the lakeside promenade.

Conditions for payment / cancellations
Payment for reservations involving less than 10 hotel rooms is made on the day of departure at the latest. Reservations involving more than 10 rooms require a down payment of 80% of the price of the room agreed upon, with payment thereof due at the latest on the day of arrival prior to admission to hotel rooms.
There is no charge for cancellations of up to 5 rooms. Cancellations involving 6 rooms or more will be charged 50 % of the price of the room agreed upon, in the event that the reserved hotel rooms cannot be given to further guests.
